Skin Care Products – Are They Helping or Hindering?

I am most of the time being asked concerning make-up and skin care products, and if they assist with breakouts or are actually the cause of more problems. Especially, these days that the pattern for mineral make-up has now been established and the makers of these products are saying these are better for your skin. hhmm are they...really?

It’s a Yes and a NO. Like everything put on your skin or you eat, you should be aware of the ingredients.

There are lots of brands of mineral make-up on you can find in the market right now. Mineral make-up is just natural color minerals mixed with stabilizers and fillers. It is applied to dry, and yes moisturized skin with a light make-up brush.

It is far better than liquid or common make-ups, both in blending and coverage. The application procedures are also simple to learn. These changes have been positive as I am sure many of you will agree.

But is it really good for your skin as some manufacturers are saying in their advertisements? This will depend on the state or type of your skin, any allergies you may have, and of course the brand itself. A lot of the stuff I recommend my skin care clients and readers is to totally stay away from such as mineral oils, phylates, sulfates and lanolin, are NOT in mineral make-up preparations. So in general these will be a better choice.

The very concern I have is the blocking of pores and there are still brands that use fillers that can do that. The truth is, medical dermatologists and doctors have a wide range of opinions on this subject.

There are experts like Ben Kaminsky, author of the new book Beyond Botox: 7 Secrets for Sexy, Ageless Skin. that say, "It’s all in the marketing"."I think mineral make-up is just a genius marketing plan -- a new way of selling women the same ingredients that technically have been in make-up for years,"

People who knows me often here me say, “It’s always better when it’s natural”, however chemical based binders, and color enhancer's are still being use in many mineral make-up preparations.

A mineral make-up product I know, that is 100% natural, is called AfterGlow Cosmetics. We have many of our close friends and clients put their products in trial.

People who tried the products liked them and had not experience a single problems with the condition of their skin. I strongly recommend the products in line in AfterGlow if you are going to use a 100% natural mineral make-up preparation.

I will love to give everyone more access to information that you will keep your skin clear, healthy, and youthful looking! So wait for my next post.
